Read ADC sensor value

I would like to connect an ADC sensor to the QuickFeather development board. The pinout shows a single adc1 pin so it seems possible to interface an ADC sensor. I could not find any minimal example to read the ADC sensor value. I have read in other threads where they suggest using SparkFun Qwiic ADC (ADS1015) to interface ADC sensors but I have to read only one sensor so why would I use ADS1015?
