Breitling has launched a stainless steel Navitimer commemorative watch, a stainless steel and platinum perpetual calendar watch, and a limited edition all-platinum watch.

Breitling has released three limited edition Navitimer watches, one of which particularly caught my eye. I love airplanes and flying, and I get excited every time I fly on a new aircraft, such as the Airbus A350. Although flying in the Concorde wasn't my biggest dream—I actually flew a Spitfire—the pilot and owner told me that experience gave me something to brag about, and now I'm enjoying that honor. Even so, I still long to fly on that supersonic "white bird." Soaring across the Atlantic at 2158 km/h, at 60,000 feet, would surely be an unforgettable experience. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Concorde's maiden flight, Breitling has released a limited edition stainless steel commemorative watch. At the same time, two perpetual calendar watches have also made their debut—one in stainless steel and platinum, and the other in all platinum.

I did indeed fly on a Concorde once. No, twice, to be precise. At the Paris Air and Space Museum at Le Bourget Airport, a suburb of Paris, two Concorde supersonic airliners are parked side-by-side. One is the Concorde 001 prototype, which chased a solar eclipse in 1973; the other is a retired aircraft from Air France. I visited both planes. It was, I must say, an unforgettable experience. This aircraft, born in the heyday of the jet age, flew at twice the speed of sound, halving the transatlantic flight time, and at altitudes so high that it could even see the curvature of the Earth—truly breathtaking. So, can the Breitling Navitimer 43 Concorde tribute watch evoke the same feeling?

This Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43, a tribute to the Concorde, features a very distinctive deep blue dial. It is said that Breitling's design was inspired by the view seen through the portholes of the Concorde's cabins at an altitude of 60,000 feet—the rare, deep blue stratosphere. The deep blue dial of the Navitimer is truly fitting, as it is one of the most iconic pilot's watches. The contrasting white subdials and inner slide rule echo the Concorde's nickname, "The White Bird."

This "bird"-shaped watch is quite substantial, with a 43mm diameter case, 49.07mm lug spacing, and a thickness of 14.94mm. It also boasts the Navitimer series' standard 30-meter water resistance. The dial design, inspired by the Concorde, is adorned with the vintage AOPA logo, and beneath the dial lies the in-house automatic movement B01. This movement features a 70-hour power reserve, a column wheel, and a vertical clutch.

Where does the limited edition number of this watch come from? It refers to the four powerful but fuel-guzzling Olympus 593 turbojet engines that powered the Concorde. The case back is engraved with the words "One of 593", "Tribute to Concorde", "Jetliner" and "Mach 2" (the cruising speed at which the Concorde broke the sound barrier).
